Wooden top of a round table in the Lyra Home showroom

Solid wood and natural veneer

Solid wood means the piece is made of the wood itself, throughout its thickness. Natural veneer is a thin sheet of real wood applied over a stable panel, which allows large tops with a continuous grain pattern.

Why choose it

  • A warmth and texture only wood has: each piece has its own grain and tone.
  • It ages beautifully and stays with your home for many years.
  • Natural veneer gives stability to large surfaces such as table tops and sideboard doors.

Lacquer

A finish made of several coats of paint, each one sanded and polished, applied over wood or panel. It can be glossy or matt and gives a smooth surface of uniform colour.

Why choose it

  • A colour chosen for your project, on a continuous surface with no grain.
  • A contemporary look that pairs well with wood, stone and metal.

Glass and mirror

Glass tops and shelves, usually tempered or laminated according to each piece's technical sheet, and mirrors with the reflective layer protected on the back.

Why choose it

  • Lightness and light: glass reveals the design of the base and mirrors make a room feel larger.

Marble and natural stone

Marble, granite, travertine and other stones extracted from nature. Each slab has a unique pattern and tone. Marble and travertine are more sensitive to acids than granite.

Why choose it

  • A noble, durable material with a pattern that never repeats.
  • Every top is one of a kind.
How to care for it

Natural leather

Tanned and dyed cowhide. Natural marks such as small scars, wrinkles and variations in pores and tone are part of its authenticity.

Why choose it

  • A feel and comfort that improve with use.
  • Durability and a patina of its own over the years.

Fabrics: velvet, linen and bouclé

The textile covering of upholstered pieces. Velvet has a short, dense pile with a sheen that changes with the light. Linen is a natural fibre with a dry texture that creases naturally. Bouclé is made of looped yarns that create a raised texture.

Why choose it

  • Comfort, colour and texture for every room.
  • A wide choice in each piece's range, classified as Fabric A, B, C…

The inside of sofas, armchairs and upholstered chairs: the frame, foams of different densities and fillings, which vary from piece to piece according to the technical sheet.

Why choose it

Cane and natural fibres

A handmade weave of natural fibres, such as cane, used on seats, backrests and doors.

Why choose it

  • Lightness, breathability and the texture of handwork.

Stain protection

An optional treatment applied to the upholstery fabric that makes liquids bead on the surface for a while. It does not make the fabric waterproof: it gives you time to blot the liquid before it soaks in.

Why choose it

  • More time to act when something spills.
  • Peace of mind day to day with children and pets.

Upholstery in the Lyra standard

To make choosing easier, every upholstery material follows the same classification, whatever the piece: fabrics as Fabric A, B, C… and leathers as Leather A, B, C…, with synthetic leathers also classified as leather.

The letter indicates the upholstery tier in each piece's price list, starting with A, the highest. Each tier includes several fabrics or leathers, presented by your consultant with their trade name, colour and swatch, in the showroom or in your quote.
