Care guide

Each material calls for its own care. These guidelines help preserve the beauty of your pieces for many years.

These are general guidelines. If your piece comes with a manual or care label, follow it. Before using any product not mentioned here, test it on a hidden area or ask our technical assistance. If in doubt, please contact our technical assistance.

Solid wood and natural veneer

Everyday cleaning

  • Use a soft, dry cloth or one lightly dampened with water and well wrung out, always in the direction of the grain.
  • Dry immediately with a dry cloth.

What to avoid

  • Alcohol, solvents, silicone-based products, general-purpose waxes, steel wool and abrasive sponges.
  • Placing hot or wet objects directly on the surface: use trivets and coasters.
  • Dragging objects across the top.

Stains

  • Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth, without rubbing.
  • Stains that remain, white heat marks or scratches: do not sand or apply products yourself; contact our technical assistance.

Sun and humidity

  • Sunlight changes the colour of wood over time. Use curtains or blinds during hours of direct sun and move objects around from time to time to avoid marks.
  • Keep the piece away from heaters, fireplaces, air-conditioning vents and damp areas: wood expands and contracts with air humidity.

When to call our assistance

  • Cracks, warping, lifting veneer or flaws in the varnish.
  • Doors and drawers that no longer align or run smoothly.
About the material

Lacquer

Everyday cleaning

  • Use a soft microfibre cloth, dry or lightly dampened with water and a few drops of neutral soap, well wrung out.
  • Dry immediately with a soft, dry cloth.

What to avoid

  • Alcohol, removers, multi-purpose cleaners with solvents and abrasive products.
  • Rough sponges and dusty cloths, which scratch.
  • Hot objects, adhesive tape and stickers on the surface.

Stains

  • Clean promptly with a damp cloth and neutral soap, without rubbing hard: friction can mark glossy lacquer and add shine to matt lacquer.
  • If the stain remains, contact our technical assistance.

Sun and humidity

  • Prolonged sun exposure can yellow or fade light colours.
  • Avoid constant humidity and standing water along the edges.

When to call our assistance

  • Chips, cracks, bubbles, peeling or changes in colour.
About the material

Metal

Everyday cleaning

  • Use a soft cloth, dry or lightly damp; dry thoroughly afterwards.
  • On polished finishes, fingerprints come off with a dry microfibre cloth.

What to avoid

  • Steel wool, abrasive products, chlorine, bleach and removers.
  • Leaving the piece wet or with standing water around the feet.

Stains

  • Water with neutral soap, then dry immediately.
  • Rust spots or peeling paint: do not sand; contact our technical assistance.

Sun and humidity

  • Indoor pieces should not be placed outdoors, on uncovered balconies or in places exposed to sea air: humidity and sea air promote oxidation.

When to call our assistance

  • Oxidation, peeling paint, loose welds or a wobbly piece.
About the material

Glass and mirror

Everyday cleaning

  • Use a microfibre cloth with water, or an ammonia-free glass cleaner applied to the cloth, never directly on the piece.

What to avoid

  • Spraying products directly on a mirror: the liquid runs to the edges and can stain the reflective layer.
  • Abrasive products, knocks on the corners and heavy objects resting on the edges.
  • Hot pans or dishes placed directly on the glass.

Stains

  • Water and microfibre; if needed, an ammonia-free glass cleaner applied to the cloth.

Sun and humidity

  • In damp rooms, mirror edges can darken: keep the room well ventilated.

When to call our assistance

  • A crack, a chipped edge, a stain in the mirror layer or glass coming loose from the frame. If cracked, do not use the piece until it has been assessed.
About the material

Marble and natural stone

Everyday cleaning

  • Use a soft cloth dampened with water, or water with a neutral detergent; dry afterwards.

What to avoid

  • Acids: lemon, vinegar, wine, soft drinks, sauces and cleaning products with chlorine, ammonia or abrasives.
  • Hot objects placed directly on the stone, cutting on the top and dragging objects.
  • Knocks on the edges and corners.

Stains

  • Blot spills immediately with paper or a cloth, without rubbing: oil and wine penetrate the pores of the stone.
  • A stain or loss of shine that will not come off: do not use home remedies; contact our technical assistance.

Sun and humidity

  • Damp glasses and vases leave rings: use coasters and saucers under vases.

When to call our assistance

  • Cracks, chips, stains that will not come off or loss of shine.
  • To find out whether the stone needs a new protective sealing.
About the material

Natural leather

Everyday cleaning

  • Dust with a soft, dry cloth.
  • From time to time, use a cloth lightly dampened with water and well wrung out, then dry with a dry cloth.

What to avoid

  • Alcohol, ordinary soap, detergent, solvents and general-purpose cleaning products.
  • Wetting the leather, sharp objects and pets' claws.
  • Clothes that release dye, such as new jeans: the colour can transfer to the leather.

Stains

  • Blot liquids immediately with a dry cloth, without rubbing.
  • Grease, pen ink or dye from clothing: do not try to remove it; contact our technical assistance.

Sun and humidity

  • Sun and heat dry out and fade leather: keep the piece away from direct sun and heaters.
  • To nourish the leather, use only a product made for leather, as advised by our technical assistance, testing it first on a hidden area.

When to call our assistance

  • Tears, cracks, dryness, stains, fading or open seams.
About the material

Synthetic leather

Everyday cleaning

  • Use a soft cloth dampened with water and neutral soap; dry afterwards.

What to avoid

  • Alcohol, solvents, chlorine and abrasive products.
  • Conditioners for natural leather: synthetic leather does not absorb them.
  • Sharp objects and clothes that release dye.

Stains

  • Clean immediately with a damp cloth and neutral soap. If the stain remains, contact our technical assistance.

Sun and humidity

  • Sun and heat dry out the material and can lead to peeling.
  • Constant humidity promotes mould: keep the room well ventilated.

When to call our assistance

  • Peeling, cracks or open seams.
About the material

Fabrics: velvet, linen and bouclé

Everyday cleaning

  • Vacuum once a week with a soft brush nozzle.
  • Plump and rotate loose cushions.
  • Brush velvet gently in the direction of the pile: seat marks and changes in sheen with use are characteristic of the fabric.

What to avoid

  • Rubbing, over-wetting, bleach and removers.
  • Washing machines, steamers and cleaning products not suited to the fabric.
  • Pulling loose threads, especially on bouclé.
  • Sitting in wet clothes or with sharp objects in your pockets.

Stains

  • Act quickly: blot with a clean white cloth, pressing from the outside in, without rubbing.
  • Do not use any product without first testing it on a hidden area.
  • Difficult stains call for specialist professional cleaning; if in doubt, contact our technical assistance.

Sun and humidity

  • Sunlight fades fabrics, especially linen, velvet and strong colours.
  • Humidity promotes mould: keep the room well ventilated.

When to call our assistance

  • Open seams, pulled threads, unusual wear or marked fading.
About the material

Upholstery and foams

Everyday cleaning

  • Plump the cushions, especially those with fibre or down filling.
  • Alternate the seats you use and, if a cushion is reversible, turn it from time to time.
  • During the first weeks, foams and fillings settle: this is natural.

What to avoid

  • Sitting on the arms or backrest, jumping on the piece and concentrating weight on a single spot.
  • Resting your feet with shoes on.
  • Dragging the sofa: to move it, lift it by the base.

Stains

  • Follow the care for the covering: fabric, natural leather or synthetic leather.

Sun and humidity

  • Heat and humidity damage foams and frames: avoid damp walls and heat sources.

When to call our assistance

  • Unusual sagging, noises, a loose frame or deformation.
About the material

Cane and natural fibres

Everyday cleaning

  • Dust with a soft brush or a vacuum with a brush nozzle.
  • If needed, a lightly damp cloth, then dry immediately.

What to avoid

  • Soaking the weave, standing on the seat and sharp objects.
  • Chemical cleaning products.

Stains

  • A lightly damp cloth with neutral soap, without soaking.

Sun and humidity

  • Sun and very dry air dry out the fibre; constant humidity promotes mould.

When to call our assistance

  • Broken strands or a loose weave.
About the material

Stain protection

Everyday cleaning

  • The same care as for the fabric: vacuum with a soft brush nozzle.

What to avoid

  • Products with solvents or bleach, and washing without guidance: they remove the protection.
  • Leaving liquid standing on the fabric.

Stains

  • Blot immediately with a dry cloth, without rubbing.

Sun and humidity

  • Stain protection does not prevent fading caused by sunlight.

When to call our assistance

  • When the fabric no longer repels liquids, to assess a new application.
